2021 CFAA Rental Housing Employee Compensation Survey available now!

It seems obvious that paying employees too much can cut into profits, but paying too little can too! If your employees turn over too quickly, then customer service and productivity is compromised. A major cause of excess employee turnover is not paying enough.

What does the compensation survey cover?

The 2021 survey reports data on 9 building based positions and addresses 21 head office positions, providing Canada-wide compensation data and provincial or regional data, as well as actual city data, or a robust statistical estimate of city wages for the positions for which there is not enough local data.

The building based positions are:

  • Building Superintendent
  • Cleaner
  • Doorman/Concierge
  • Leasing Agent
  • Maintenance Technician
  • Property Administrator
  • Property Assistant Manager
  • Property Manager
  • Security Guard

For several positions, the data is reported showing the compensation driven by building size.

Order the benefits survey along with the compensation survey to receive a special report on benefit programs, pension plans, turnover rates, and other HR practices. The CFAA Rental Housing Employee Benefits and Compensation Survey covers close to 5,000 employees working for both large and mid-size landlords.

Purchasing the survey

The survey may be purchased nationally or separately for one or more urban areas or other areas. On the order form, please mark the survey reports you want to purchase.

The higher price includes the benefits report. The lower price is the compensation report only. The prices stated are for Non-Participant pricing for the Compensation & Benefits Survey. If your company participated in the survey, you are entitled to a preferred rate. For the order form for survey participants, email admin@cfaa-fcapi.org.

You can either pay by credit card or CFAA will invoice your company. The applicable GST/HST will be added to your order.

The survey is performed by Steven Osiel of 3rd Quartile, an employee compensation consultant. Once you have purchased the survey, CFAA will send you his explanation of the survey. You can contact him for questions about the results.

Due to the nature of the product, there are no refunds on purchases of the CFAA Rental Housing Compensation & Benefits Survey.
